"The Roman Catholic Church strictly forbids women's ordination, arguing that women priests defy God's will for the Church. Enter Roman Catholic Womanpriests (RCWP), an international movement that has ordained nearly 250 women worldwide, mostly in the United States and Canada. The Vatican insists that women have never been and can never be priests; RCWP responds by ordaining womenpriests who lead worship communities, perform sacramental ministries, and embody Christ as women. RCWP trangresses official Roman Catholic teaching while seeking to uphold and redeem Roman Catholic traditions--all while provocatively claiming to be Roman Catholic. In order to understand how womenpriests navigate tradition and transgression, this study situates RCWP within post-Vatican II Catholicism, apostolic succession, sacraments, ministerial action, and questions of embodiment. This book reveals RCWP to be a discrete religious movement in a distinct religious moment, with a small group of tenacious women defying the Catholic patriarchy, taking on the priestly role and demanding reconsideration of Roman Catholic tradition. In 1992 zijn de Vincentianen 150 jaar in België actief. Gaat het om een weinig gekende kloosterorde van Franse origine? Toch niet, al leidt de negentiende-eeuwse naam "Sint-Vincentius a Paulogenootschap" allicht tot verwarring. De huidige naam, "Sint-Vincentiusvereniging", doet aan een devotiegenootschap denken. In de literatuur worden de Vincentianen vaak bestempeld als de emanatie van het negentiende-eeuwse katholiek paternalisme, hun lokale afdelingen (conferenties) worden aangezien als katholieke loges. Kortom, het ontbreekt aan een duidelijk beeld. Door historici van verschillende Belgische universiteiten wordt in dit boek voor het eerst meer klaarheid gebracht over diverse aspecten van het Vincentiusgenootschap. Dank zij de uitgebreide bijlagen vormt deze publicatie tevens een handig werkinstrument.

Seit den 1960er Jahren ist anerkannt, dass der christliche Anthropozentrismus wesentlich zur gegenwartigen Umweltzerstorung und zur Ausbeutung der Tiere beigetragen hat. Erstmals werden die Anfange dieser Entwicklung rekonstruiert. Dabei zeigt sich, dass viele Theologen der fruhen Kirche sehr schopfungs- und tierfreundlich waren und dennoch den Anthropozentrismus der griechisch-romischen Mainstream-Philosophie ubernommen haben. Auf Basis dieser Analyse werden alternative Konzepte christlicher Schopfungstheologie entwickelt, die das gesamte Netzwerk an Ideen transformieren, in das der Anthropozentrismus eingewoben ist. Damit offnen sich Turen, um die Wurde aller Geschopfe anzuerkennen.

This volume presents the results of a scholarly meeting which focused on the patronage of women in the Byzantine Empire. In their scope, the articles address broadly not only the founding or re-founding of churches and monasteries, but also their rich decoration, as well as numerous smaller donations. In spite of increased attention to gender research in recent years, a comparative treatment of the legal and economic potentiel that women in Byzantium could exercise in order to exert independent influence has been lacking; thus a gender-specific viewpoint for the volume was intentionally chosen.
